KYC & AML Policy
Why do we verify every player?
Only verified adults can play for real money at Sudbury Casino. We operate only in jurisdictions whose laws allow our service, and we comply with Canadian rules on age, identity checks and anti-money laundering.
Verification does three jobs:
- Keeps minors out of the lobby.
- Stops fraud and stolen payment details.
- Stops criminal funds from passing through the cashier.
Do you screen for sanctions and PEPs?
Yes. Every account goes through sanctions screening, using both Canadian and global lists, at sign-up and at regular points after. If a match is confirmed, we will not open the account, or we close it.
We also check politically exposed persons: people holding a high-profile public post today or in the recent past, as well as family and close associates. A PEP is still welcome to play, but the account faces enhanced checks and senior management must approve it.
Records we retain and reports we file
We retain transaction records, verification results and ID documents for the full period set by Canadian law. All of it is stored securely and handled as set out in Your Privacy.
Where required by law, we submit reports to the relevant Canadian authorities, including suspicious transaction reports. Legally, we cannot inform a player when one has been filed.
When might you check the source of my funds?
A source of funds check is triggered when activity does not fit an account, for example:
- Deposits that are large or frequent compared with past play.
- Money paid in and cashed out after very little gameplay.
- Several payment methods used in a short space of time.
This is usually resolved with recent payslips, bank statements, tax papers or proof of an inheritance or property sale. Withdrawals remain on hold until the check is finished.
How is my identity and age verified?
When you sign up, we collect your birth date, complete legal name and residential address. Trusted electronic databases are used to confirm them. A location check runs ahead of any first deposit.
If we cannot verify you through our electronic check, we ask for documents:
- Identity: valid government photo ID, like your passport or your driver's licence.
- Address: a recent bill from a utility company, or a statement from your bank showing where you live.
- Payment ownership: a card photo where the middle numbers are masked, or a screen capture of your PayPal or iDebit account displaying your name.
Make sure each image is sharp, in colour and shows the four corners of the document. Files that are blurry or cut off delay the process.
What happens when verification fails?
Until we can confirm you, the account is restricted. No deposits, no play and no withdrawals.
If documents are forged, belong to someone else or show the player is under 19, the account is shut. Winnings are handled as set out in our Player Agreement, and we may pass details to the authorities where the law requires.
Do checks stop after sign-up?
No. Transactions on every account are watched by our systems and our staff. Fresh documents may be requested if your ID expires, your details change or your account activity changes.
We pay winnings only to verified methods registered in your own name: Interac e-Transfer, Visa, PayPal or iDebit. Deposits and withdrawals carry no extra charges.
Where do I submit documents or get answers to a question?
Email support@sudburycasino.app with your username in the subject line. Attach your files and we will confirm receipt and update you once your check is complete.
